Active Black Belts
We consider black belt to be the start of our journey, not the end.  We honor those that helped us
acheive our rank by helping in return.  This is what we were taught and this is what we practice.
Sifu Jose Ortega

Sifu Ortega began his martial arts training in Kajukenbo with Professor Limon
in 1984 at the age of 9.  He has also studied Judo, Western Boxing and
Muay Thai Kickboxing.  He received his Black Belt in Kajukenbo from
Professor Limon in 1999 and currently holds the rank of 5th Degree in Kajukenbo.

Sifu Ortega's training philosophy is "to keep evolving and be your own martial artist".
Inspired by Bruce Lee's own philosophy, he believes that "To be a weapon,
you have to train like one".  Sifu Jose believes in discipline, commitment and
passion for the art in which you are training.

Sifu Ortega credits Professor Limon with encouraging him to find his own
way and explore different martial arts.
Sifu Michael Ramirez

Sifu Ramirez received his Black Belt in Kajukenbo from Professor Limon
in 1999 and currently holds the rank of 5th Degree in Kajukenbo.
Sifu Ramirez is currently teaching at the YMCA in Upland, CA .

Sifu Mike Buck

Mike has been practicing Kajukenbo under Professor Limon since 1998.
He currently holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo.

According to Mike: "My original intent was to accompany my 6 year old
son and get some excercise in.  Professor Limon's knowledge, passion and
dedication quickly inspired me to become a serious student of the art.  It has
been a great privelege to train under Professor Limon".
Sibak Keith McHugh
Keith fulfilled a lifelong dream when he began his Kajukenbo training with
Sifu Danny Flores in 1976 at the age of 18. He earned his first
Kajukenbo Black Belt in 1979 from Sifu Flores.

Keith started studying under Professor Limon in 1998. In order to be fair to
Professor’s long time students, Keith had to start as a White Belt.
He earned his second Kajukenbo Black Belt in 2005 from Professor Limon.
He currently holds a rank of 2nd Degree Black Belt in Kajukenbo.

Keith is currently working with our younger students mainly on their
ground fighting skills, but enjoys teaching all facets of Kajukenbo to them.
Keith’s training philosophy with younger students is "younger students have
an incredible capacity to learn new things. Teach them as much as possible
and have them develop their discipline and skill by practicing their techniques
until they are able to perfect them".

Keith is thankful to Professor Limon for allowing him to be the first
and only Black Belt from another school to be a member of his Kajukenbo Family.
Sibak Brandon Quon
Brandon has been practicing martial arts starting at the age of 7.
He received his black belt from Professor Limon in 2002.

The Chicken Kick has been his signature move ever since 2003.

Brandon was Grand Champion in the Showmanship Division at the Vallejo International Kajukenbo Tournament of 2005.  He is teaching martial arts to students at the Y-ACES in West Covina.  He currently holds the rank of 2nd degree in Kajukenbo.
